God made us for Himself, to live in communion with Him at all times in our lives, especially in eternity. Living with Him, in Him and for Him means conversion, a state of new man in the condition of being saved. The possibility of salvation was given to us by Jesus Christ, through whom everything was created and saved objectively. Jesus gives us His Holy Spirit, who configures us to the Son, for the glory of God the Father. It is the Holy Spirit who restores in us what we are as the image and likeness of God, who divinizes us and makes us children in the Son Jesus Christ. We have all been called to divinization, to eternal sonship. To do this, we need to change completely, detach ourselves from everything, despise everything that is not loved by God, be available, obedient and courageous to face the cross for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
2 Jesus came to save humanity, bearing witness with His own life to the Trinitarian love for all. The continuation of this mission, by the power of the action of the Spirit of God, was under the care of the Church, an instrument of God's action in the world and in history. The Church is not a human invention, nor is it the fruit of the interests of the powerful, but it is an exclusive creation of God, who wanted it for himself, to be the place of his sacramental presence in history. The Church is born from God's initiative, it is his legitimate instrument for the salvific realization of the people, it is the place of encounter between him and man.
3. Jesus called Simon Peter and Andrew, two fishermen brothers. He himself took the initiative to call them. They, in turn, immediately left their nets and followed him. Two important things here: first, the adverb IMMEDIATELY. Time is pressing, we cannot wait any longer, the time is now. Furthermore, it can signify the disciple's availability, his readiness to serve the Lord, his being absolutely at the disposal of God's will. The second thing is the nets, instruments necessary for subsistence. Even so, they were abandoned in view of a higher order project, the salvific project. Abandoning the nets means abandoning what interests oneself, in order to live God's dream. Andrew, before Peter, met Jesus, rejoiced with Him, and saw in Him the fulfillment of the messianic promises of Israel. He was also the one who, with Philip, led pagan Greeks to meet Jesus. He was also the one who, at the time of the multiplication of the loaves, introduced the young man who had loaves and fish with him.
4. Jesus is passing by you now. You may not be by the sea or by a lake, but you may still be at home, or in bed, or at work, driving, walking, or talking to someone. In short, wherever you are, Jesus is passing by you now. Let Him embrace you, listen to His word, respond to His invitation to salvation, surrender to His call, and, without fear, let go of what is a treasure for you and embrace Christ Himself and His mission. The world needs men and women who give up everything for the sake of the Kingdom of God. who become “fishers of men”, allies of Jesus Christ in the fight against evil, fishing souls for Heaven. The act of fishing means taking something from the waters, a symbol of the dominion of evil, to place it under the dominion of the Lord. The world that is indifferent to God is similar to the sea, it is the domain of the father of lies, called the “prince of this world”. It is necessary for you and I to give up everything so that God’s salvation may be accomplished.
@ - Have you sought to do God’s will?
@ - Do you believe in God’s calling for your life?
@ - Do you perceive God around you?
@ - Are you still not sure of your importance to God?
@ - Do you want everything, or like that widow, will the crumbs suffice?
@ - Do you have the courage to surrender your life to God at this very moment?
A big and loving hug.
