There are many situations in our lives that can make us give up on the path of faith or become discouraged. However, “there is no fear in love.” It is Jesus who encourages us: “Do not be afraid.” Let us celebrate, renewing our trust in the Word of the Lord.

First Reading: 1 John 4:11-18

Reflection:

The disciples’ boat is in the middle of the sea, just as we are in the sea of ​​life. An uncertain and sometimes impetuous sea, with a contrary wind, full of challenges and difficulties. Without Jesus, we feel insecure, fragile, and afraid. Without Jesus, our hearts remain hardened. Without Jesus, we have no light, as the biblical text emphasizes, noting that it was dawn, the heart of the night, the moment of greatest darkness. But, in the midst of life’s setbacks and the hardening of the human heart, Jesus manifests himself and comes to meet us. Recognizing Christ, who calms our storms, implies being open to divine communication, a communication of love, distinct from human logic.

O povo que andava na escuridão viu uma grande luz; para os que habitavam nas sombras da morte, uma luz resplandeceu (Is 9,1).

São muitas as situações de nossa vida que podem nos fazer desistir do caminho da fé ou desanimar. Porém, “no amor não há temor”. É Jesus quem nos encoraja: “Não tenhais medo”. Celebremos, renovando nossa confiança na Palavra do Senhor.

Primeira Leitura: 1 João 4,11-18

Reflexão:

O barco dos discípulos está no meio do mar, tal como estamos no mar da vida. Mar inseguro e às vezes impetuoso, cujo vento é contrário, cheio de desafios e dificuldades. Sem Jesus, nos sentimos inseguros, frágeis, amedrontados. Sem Jesus, mantemos o nosso coração endurecido. Sem Jesus, não temos luz, como reforça o texto bíblico, assinalando que era de madrugada, o coração da noite, momento de maior obscuridade. Mas, no meio das contrariedades da vida e do endurecimento do coração humano, Jesus se manifesta, vem ao nosso encontro. Reconhecer Cristo, que acalma nossas tempestades, implica estar aberto à comunicação divina, comunicação de amor, distinta da lógica humana.
